Special Events Times Square Alliance Plans Summer of Concerts, Comedy, and More

The Times Square Alliance has announced programming for the spring and summer to celebrate the arts in New York City’s public spaces. TSQ LIVE will include live music, DJ sets, dance workshops, public art installations, comedy hours, and more, kicking off in May.

With a series that began May 5, Jazz at Lincoln Center brings Jazz to Times Square at 5 PM on Broadway and 46th Street each Thursday. May 19-June 16, the following concerts will take place: Summer Camargo Quintet (May 19), New Jazz Underground (May 26), Jeremy Bosch Sextet (June 2), Immigrantet featuring Juan Diego Villalobos, Nicola Caminiti, Hamish Smith and Timothy Angulo (June 9), and Josanne Francis (June 16).

Ailey Extension's Dance in Times Square, which began May 6, will run each Friday at 5 PM through June 17 at the same stage. The lineup of dance classes featuring Ailey Extension instructors includes Zumba with Jose Ozuna (May 20), New York Style Mambo with Katherine Jimenez (May 27), and Masala Bhangra with Sarina Jain (June 3). The final two classes, part of New York City Dance Week, are Hip Hop with Jonathan Lee (June 10) and Broadway Jazz with Judine Somerville (June 17).

In addition to TSQ LIVE, Times Square hosts Playbill's Broadway Grand Gallery exhibition presented with Times Square Alliance. Playbill and Times Square Alliance have also partnered to present Pride in Times Square, a weekend full of events featuring stage and screen stars, Broadway productions, LGBTQIA+ non-profits, and more June 24-26. Events in the series, which coincides with NYC Pride, feature Pride 365: LIVE! and The Big Broadway Disco.

The 20th annual Solstice in Times Square: Mind Over Madness Yoga, new public art offerings, live DJ sets, comedy, music, and dance are also planned for June, and the rest of the summer. September will feature three Carnegie Hall concerts September 9, 16, and 23. Morgan Stanley presents Jazz in Times Square, Dance in Times Square, and all three Carnegie Hall concerts.
