La Femme Theatre Productions, dedicated to showcasing the diverse female experience, will present Tennessee Williams' The Night of the Iguana December 6, 2023-February 25, 2024, at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center. Opening night is December 17.

Directed by Emily Mann, the cast will be led by Emmy nominee Tim Daly (The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial, Wings), Tony nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega (Rent, Anna in the Tropics), Drama Desk nominee Lea DeLaria (POTUS, Orange Is the New Black), Tony nominee Austin Pendleton (Between Riverside and Crazy, The Minutes), and Jean Lichty (A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur, The Traveling Lady).

The company will also include Carmen Berkeley (Our Dear Dead Drug Lord) as Charlotte, Eliud Kauffman (72 Miles to Go) as Hank, Keith Randolph Smith (Jitney, American Psycho) as Jake, Bradley James Tejeda (The Inheritance) as Pedro, and Dan Teixeira (Harmony: A New Musical) as Pancho.

In The Night of the Iguana, which debuted on Broadway in 1961, a defrocked clergyman encounters inside disturbances amid outside disturbances at the Costa Verde Hotel in Acapulco as the world prepares for World War II. After four women of different ages and backgrounds, along with a 97-year-old poet, engage in the clergyman's spiritual struggles, their lives leap dramatically forward.

"The Night of the Iguana poses critical questions of faith and identity that are particularly relevant today as we navigate a paradoxically divided yet open world. Tennessee offers an answer by writing an epic that he described as 'a play about love in its purest terms.' And La Femme is thrilled to render this production for the 21st century, directed by the great Emily Mann,” says La Femme Executive Director Lichty.

The upcoming production will also have set design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Jennifer von Mayrhauser, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Darron L West, and prop design by Kathy Fabian.

Amy Stoller is the dramaturg and language consultant with casting by Stephanie Klapper Casting, production management by Tinc Productions, and general management by LDK Productions/Lisa Dozier Shacket.

La Femme initially presented The Night of the Iguana as a benefit digital presentation in 2020, also directed by Mann. Featuring Dylan McDermott, Phylicia Rashad, and Roberta Maxwell, the benefit raised over $30,000 for The Entertainment Community Fund.

Although it's playing the Signature Center, The Night of the Iguana is not a production of Signature Theatre.
