The 49th season of the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players concludes with a double bill of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Sorcerer and Trial by Jury April 6–7 at New York’s Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

Trial by Jury features Daniel Greenwood as The Learned Judge and Rebecca L. Hargrove as The Plaintiff with Cameron Smith as The Defendant, Amy Maude Helfer as The Counsel, David Auxier as The Usher, and Patrick Lord-Remmert as the Foreman of the Jury. Associate Artistic Director James Mills directs Trial by Jury, and Associate Musical Director Joseph Rubin conducts the 25-piece orchestra.

The Sorcerer cast includes Michelle Seipel as Aline and Daniel Greenwood as Alexis with Matthew Wages as Sir Marmaduke Pointdextre, Hannah Holmes as Lady Sangazure, James Mills as Sorcerer John Wellington Wells, David Macaluso as Dr. Daly, Amy Maude Helfer as Mrs. Partlet, Laura Sudduth as Constance, and Adam Bashian as the Notary. Founder and Artistic Director Albert Bergeret directs and conducts The Sorcerer.

The ensemble is rounded out by Sam Balzac, Caitlin Borek, Michael J. Connolly, Hannah Eakin, Katie Hall, Jonathan Heller, Maurio Hines, Alexandra Imbrosci-Viera, Sabrina Lopez, Monique Pelletier, Logan Pitts, Nathan Seldin, and Sophie Thompson. Both shows feature choreography by David Auxier.

Originally billed as a "Dramatic Cantata," Trial by Jury was written as a one-act afterpiece for Offenbach’s La Perichole. Gilbert aimed some of his first satirical jabs at the law in this over-the-top send up of the legal system. Set in a quaint English village, The Sorcerer is the story of Alexis, a young military officer who purchases a love-at-first-sight potion from a respectable and old-established Family Sorcerer.

Performances are April 6 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM and April 7 at 3 PM.
