The Look Book: Blues Dominated the Red Carpet of The Notebook

The start of spring and the peak of Pisces season was in full swing on the opening night red carpet of The Notebook March 14, which brings to Broadway a musical adaption of Nicholas Sparks' popular romance.

The evening offered an enchanting assortment of romantic spring fashion, with light shades of peach, buttercup, and sage—and of course, all shades of blue to complement the musical's scenic and thematic elements of water. Alexi Melvin

With the cherry blossom buds beginning to sprout across New York City, guest Alexi Melvin's fresh, bright look is absolutely perfect for this rejuvenating week of spring weather. The light satin texture of this Cinq à Sept set
is the perfect canvas for the richness of the peach color. Pairing a crop top with the long sleeved blazer and pants keeps things cool as the temperature slowly rises. The black shoes by Lovee Cosee, black clutch, and rings by Letti New York and Chanel level up the look with a touch of evening glamour.

Meghan Picerno

Guest Meghan Picerno is a breath of fresh air in this cloud-colored puff-sleeved dress by BCBGMAXAZRIA! The boned structure of the midriff, plus her chunky black platform heels and quilted Chanel bag add a balancing edge to this sweet spring look.

Courtney Reed

Guest Courtney Reed is stunning in this flowy buttercup yellow dress by Ronny Kobo. The breezy fabric keeps the ensemble light and elegant, while her ruby red lipstick and blush adds just enough brightness. The ankle-length skirt shows off her Valentino sandal heels—you read that right, sandal season is truly upon us!

Kim Onah

Notebook cast member Kim Onah looks like a misty spring morning in this beautiful lily pad-colored gown by Mac Duggal! The cascading chiffon skirt and twisted texture at the center of the bodice transforms the classic ballgown look into an ethereal waterfall of dimensions. Her hair by ShaysGlamour and makeup by Gianna Yanelli is fit for a princess. And, although you can't see them in the photo, the ultimate treasure is her Jimmy Choo heels, which she told Playbill were a thrift find! You go, Kim Onah!

Andréa Burns

Styled by Jake Sokoloff, cast member Andréa Burns didn't back down from wearing red on the red carpet—and she certainly outshone it! This off-the-shoulder Tadashi Shoji gown is the perfect true red, and the draped sleeve on one side and bell sleeve on the other is asymmetrical in a way that offers enough dramatic edge while still feeling classic. Her gold Badgley Mischka heels, gold Alexis Bittar jewelry, and glowy makeup by Dotty Peterson have her looking like a million dollars.

Bekah Brunstetter and Ingrid Michaelson

The Notebook's book writer and composer were twinning in Alice and Olivia ensembles, with Bekah Brunstetter looking both professionally refined and incredibly cool in this black leather blazer dress, and Ingrid Michaelson bringing on the romantic playfulness with the bustier top of her dress and tiered see-through skirt—all topped off with a little black ribbon in her hair (done by Chelsea Gehr.) Brunstetter accessorized with jewelry by Ellie Vail, and Michaelson completed her look with Lamoda shoes.

Both the creatives wore the same brand, but they personalized it to their styles perfectly!

Katie Spelman

Notebook choreographer Katie Spelman knows a lot about movement onstage. But she—and her stylist Greg Dassonville (assisted by Seann Sullivan) and tailor Alan Gonzalez—also clearly understand the most gorgeous ways for fabric to flow! This show-stopping fitted bronze dress by Halston features gathered fabric at the waist and a cowl neck, adding an air of effortlessness to its glamour. She ties it all together with peep-toe heels by Alexandre Birman and Swarovski jewelry.

Olivia Broadwater

Guest Olivia Broadwater has mastered the art of spring florals with this House of CB top and skirt set. The delicate pastel shades of the rose design against the subtle beige keeps the design understated and classic, while the cut of the top and the high slit in the skirt add a modern touch. Her blocked sandal heels are the perfect footwear to wear on a warmer March evening!

Hillary Fisher

Cast member Hillary Fisher turned heads in this slick, elongated chrome dress by Retrofête. The metallic fabric is so reflective that it has Fisher absolutely glowing. Her jewelry (borrowed from her mom!) adds a stylish touch without distracting from the dress, and her smokey eye ties all the stunning silver tones together.

Joy Woods

Styled by Greg Dassonville (assisted by Seann Sullivan), cast member Joy Woods is absolutely jaw-dropping in this sapphire off-the-shoulder dress by NARDOS. The hundreds of appliqué flowers come together to resemble a gorgeous bouquet—the ultimate date night gift (other than a pair of tickets to The Notebook, of course!) And if you thought she couldn't look any more like a gift — check out the bow on the back of the dress! Her patent leather silver Alexandre Birman heels pair beautifully with the jewel tone of the dress, and her jewelry by Stephanie Gottlieb makes her shine even brighter. Her gorgeous hair by Keirsten Hodgens and makeup by Kyle Brown is truly fit for a star.

Jordan Tyson

Cast member Jordan Tyson kept to the Allies-wearing-blue-florals theme in this absolutely ethereal cerulean dress from Anthropologie. The strapless top allows her hair (self-styled!) and makeup by Earon Nealey to shine, while the bottom features another bouquet of flowers that appear to be forget-me-nots. Coincidence to the theme of the show? We think not! (If you couldn't tell, we love a themed outfit.) She completes the look with Mejuri earrings and tan Sam Edelman heels featuring white scalloped edges: suitably beachy for the seaside setting of the show.
