OPENING
May 17: What I Did Last Summer follows 14-year-old Charlie and his mother Grace, as they attempt to enjoy their vacation at their lake house in the summer of 1945. When Charlie befriends the town misfit, the family must confront society's expectations and the concept of conformity. Resident Signature Theatre playwright A.R. Gurney has crafted a poignant coming-of-age story.
May 18: Annie Baker's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama The Flick returns Off-Broadway to the Barrow Street Theatre. The cast and creative team from the original 2013 Playwrights Horizons production reunite for the remounting, including Fun Home director Sam Gold. May 20: MCC Theater stages the world premiere of Permission by Hand to God playwright Robert Askins, starring Justin Bartha ("The Hangover") and Emmy nominee Elizabeth Reaser ("Grey's Anatomy"). The stars portray a couple whose decision to make changes to their marriage will have them questioning everything they thought they knew.
May 21: Elevator Repair Service's acclaimed production of The Sound and the Fury, a staging of William Faulkner's seminal novel of the same name, returns Off-Broadway to the Public Theater. The show features split-screen staging, video-projected text and an original sound score.

May 21: Significant Other, a new comedy from acclaimed Bad Jews playwright Joshua Harmon, begins performances at Roundabout Theatre Company. The production boasts a cast including Wicked star Lindsay Mendez and Tony nominee Barbara Barrie.
May 22: Helmed by Tony-winning director Pam MacKinnon, Playwrights Horizons presents the Off-Broadway premiere of The Qualms, about a swingers party, by Pulitzer and Tony winner Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park).
