Playbill Goes Fringe The Edinburgh Fringe Festival Will Offer Apple and Google Wallet Ticketing This Year

This year's festival begins August 2, offering exciting new works of theatre from all around the globe.

This year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival will offer attendees a more convenient option for holding tickets to the plethora of shows offered, with Apple and Google wallet now storing Fringe e-tickets. This ensures that even with limited or no cellular reception, tickets will be saved and ready to pull up at any moment.

This offering comes one year after the brand new EdFringe app's launch, which gave attendees the ability to discover and book shows on the go. The app will again be available this year. All of these developments serve as part of the Fringe Festival's digital evolution initiative.

Taking place every August, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is an abundant cornucopia of theatre. The festival welcomes artists and productions both big and small, ranging from theatrical legends such as Ian McKellan to (at the time) newcomers like Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It’s launched smash hit international shows (Toby Marlow and Lucy MossSIX: The Musical was staged at Fringe in 2017) and is a hotbed of up-and-coming artists from around the world.

Be sure to follow along with Playbill as we lead up to (and eventually attend) the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. And if you’re interested in joining in on the fun, check out the Playbill FringeShip, our floating hotel for the 2024 Fringe, which will be docked in Edinburgh and will provide easy transportation to the Fringe (as well as exclusive on-ship entertainment).
