Broadway favorite Stephanie J. Block, who won a Tony starring in The Cher Show, is set to co-narrate the audiobook of the legendary artist's memoir alongside Cher herself.
The audiobook edition of Cher: The Memoir, Part One will be available November 19. Block announced the news via Instagram post.
“I knew I wouldn't be able to do it all myself,” Cher told E! News. “I knew she would be the perfect choice to get across to the reader the essence of me. I called her and within hours she rearranged her schedule to start the recording.”
“Lending my voice to help Cher deliver the memoir has been an honor and a thrill,” added Block. “Her life is fascinating, glamorous, surprising, exciting—and at times, completely heartbreaking. Her story is a beautiful balance of ULTIMATE stardom and accessibility. She is Cher for a reason and this book helps the reader get behind ‘the reason.'"
The hit jukebox musical The Cher Show opened on Broadway in 2018, with a book by Rick Elice. The role of Cher was split between Block, Teal Wicks, and Micaela Diamond, with each representing the singer at different stages of her life. For her performance as Star, Block received her third Tony nomination and first win.
