Road Show, Sondheim and John Weidman’s musical about the real-life Mizner brothers, is scheduled to run through March 13 in Signature Theatre’s intimate MAX Theatre in Arlington. Directed by Gary Griffin, of Broadway's Honeymoon in Vegas, opening night is set for Feb. 21.
The cast also includes Erin Driscoll (Signature’s Sunday in the Park with George), Stefan Kempski, Jason Labrador, Jake Mahler (Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Road Show), Dan Manning (Broadway’s Ragtime), Angela Miller (Signature’s Sunday in the Park with George), Matt Schleigh (Ford’s Freedom’s Song) and Bobby Smith (Signature’s West Side Story, The Fix).
The production features musical direction by Jon Kalbfleisch; scenic design by Scott Davis; costume design by Ivania Stack; lighting design by Joel Sheir; sound design by Lane Elms; and wig design by Anne Nesmith. The creative team also includes production stage manager Kerry Epstein and assistant stage manager Kristen Harris.
The musical features music and lyrics by Sondheim and a book by Weidman. Based on the real-life Mizner siblings, Road Show follows their quest for the elusive American dream. "From the Klondike gold rush to India, Hawaii, Guatemala, New York and finally the real-estate boon of Florida’s Boca Raton," state press notes, "the dazzling pace scours not only the map, but also forty years of boom-and-bust and brotherly love (or hate)."
