The 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards were held January 15, and a bevy of theatrical talent took home top honors!
Three of the four primary film performance awards were given to Broadway alums; Brendan Fraser received Best Actor for The Whale, Cate Blanchett received Best Actress for Tár, and Angela Bassett received Best Supporting Actress for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This continues Bassett's momentous award season so far, marking her the first actor to receive significant awards for a performance in a Marvel film.
On the television side of the ceremony, Broadway was also well represented, with original Dreamgirl Sheryl Lee Ralph winning Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on Abbott Elementary, and Jennifer Coolidge winning Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her work on the second season of The White Lotus.
Jean Smart won Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks, Henry Winkler won Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Barry, Off-Broadway's current Charley Kringas, Daniel Radcliffe, won Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television, and movie musical regular Amanda Seyfried won Best Actress in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television.
