The new Royal Shakespeare Company production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream has found its band of players!
The play, which will run at the Barbican beginning December 3 and continuing through January 18, 2025, is directed by Eleanor Rhode.
The London production will star Andrew Richardson as Oberon and Theseus, Katherine Pearce as Puck, Nicholas Armfield as Demetrius, Mathew Baynton as Bottom, Emily Cundick as Snout, Esme Hough as Cobweb, Ryan Hutton as Lysander, Laurie Jamieson as Snug, Neil McCaul as Egeus, Helen Monks as Rita Quince, Adrian Richards as Philostrate, Boadicea Ricketts as Helena, Sirine Saba as Titania and Hippolyta, Dawn Sievewright as Hermia, Mitesh Soni as Flute, Premi Tamang as Starveling, Alexander Bellinfantie as Moth, Eliza Smith as Mustardseed, and Natalie Thomas as Peaseblossom.
Mathew Baynton (Ghosts, Wonka) will play Bottom. Known for co-creating, writing and starring as Thomas Thorne in the sitcom Ghosts (BBC) and for playing Fickelgruber in the film Wonka. Baynton is also known for his many roles in Horrible Histories and for co-creating, writing and starring in the BBC’s The Wrong Mans.
Set and costume design will be by Lucy Osborne, illusion direction and design will be be John Bulleid, lighting design will be by Matt Daw, original music will be by Will Gregory, sound design will be by Pete Malkin, movement direction will be by Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster, video design will be by Will Duke, fight and intimacy direction will be by Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown, and casting is by Matthew Dewsbury.
