Part-solo play, part-reflection, Walking With Ghosts opened on the Broadway stage October 27. New photos of the piece, written and performed by two-time Tony nominee Gabriel Byrne, take audiences inside the stage adaptation of Byrne's 2020 memoir.

Using selections from the book, Byrne shares memories of the moments and people that have shaped his life. Byrne grew up in a working class family in Dublin, Ireland where he learned from the "theatre of the street" and struggled to find a sense of belonging. From those origins, he ended up pursuing a career as an actor, with all of the path's struggles to succeed and pressures of success. He also shares the funny, dark, and everyday experiences that hold weight as he reflects on his life.

Walking With Ghosts first premiered at Dublin's Gaiety Theatre earlier this year. It then played Edinburgh International Festival, from which it transferred to the West End's Apollo Theatre. Previews for the 75-performance Broadway run at the Music Box Theatre began October 18. Check out reviews for the Broadway production here.

Byrne collaborated with director Lonny Price on creating the stage adaptation. Price helms the production which features scenic and lighting design by Sinéad McKenna, costume design by Joan O’Clery, and music and sound design by Sinéad Diskin.

Byrne returns to the Broadway in his fourth production, having previously starred in A Touch of the Poet, as well as A Moon for the Misbegotten and Long Day's Journey Into Night for which he received Tony nominations. With over 100 screen acting credits to his name, he has also starred in films such as The Usual Suspects, Excalibur, and The Man in the Iron Mask.

Walking With Ghosts was originally commissioned and produced by Landmark Productions. Anna Clarke, Mara Isaacs, and Neal Street produce the show on Broadway, with Wagner Johnson Productions serving as executive producer.
