The stage musical adaptation of American Psycho will get the Riverdale treatment. With music by Tony winner Duncan Sheik and a book by Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the musical will be featured in season six of the popular CW teen drama.
TVLine dropped the news of the forthcoming musical episode, prior to an announcement at PaleyFest LA 2022. This musical spin is nothing new for the Archie-inspired series, as it previously featured the pop-rock musicals Carrie, Heathers, Hedwig, and Next to Normal.

The American Psycho musical received its world premiere in London at the Almeida Theatre with a cast comprised of Matt Smith, Ben Aldridge, Jonathan Bailey, and Lucie Jones.
Shortly after, the musical transferred to Broadway and had a short-lived run March 24-June 5, 2016. The original Broadway cast included stage favorites Benjamin Walker, Krystina Alabado, Jennifer Damiano, and Alice Ripely.
The musical is based on a novel by Bret Easton Ellis and the 2000 movie starring Christian Bale. It follows the narcissistic 80s investment banker Patrick Bateman and his murderous rampage across New York City. The score consists of electronic music and a few 80s hits, including "In the Air Tonight" by Phil Collins and "Don't You Want Me" by the Human League.
The sixth season of Riverdale premiered November 16, 2021, and went on a mid-season hiatus after its 100th episode December 14, 2021. The season returned March 20 with new episodes airing on Sunday nights.
