Directed by Bergur Ingólfsson, with choreography by Lee Proud and music direction by Stefán Örn Gunnlaugsson, the production officially opened Aug. 13 following previews that began Off-Broadway July 31.
The cast is headed by Tony winner Cady Huffman and Kate Shindle with Michael Biren, Patrick Boll, Zach Cossman, Karli Dinardo, Rick Faugno, Danielle Kelsey, Graydon Long, Brad Nacht, Marrick Smith and Jesse Wildman.
Revolution, according to press notes, is a "surreal and philosophical story of a small and somewhat naïve nation located in the elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson and their desire for greatness. Roiled by passion and great ambition, what will this once-idyllic community find... riches, ruin or redemption? The answers in this 'Horton Hears a Who'-like world can be found rocking the stage at the Minetta Lane Theatre."
The production also has set and projection design by Petr Hloušek, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and Cory Pattak, sound design by Carl Casella and costume design by Hrafnhildur Arnardottir (aka Shoplifter) and Edda Gudmundsdottir.
Creator Ívar Páll Jónsson is an Icelandic songwriter whose collaborations with other Icelandic artists culminated in the concept album for Revolution in the Elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson Furniture Painter and this world-premiere production. Director Bergur Þór Ingólfsson directed the Disney/Cameron Mackintosh production of Mary Poppins at the Reykjavík City Theater.
Revolution was produced Off-Broadway by Karl Pétur Jónsson/Revolution Productions and Theater Mogul.
