The reviews are rolling in for the New York premiere of Pulitzer prize finalist Rebecca Gilman's play Swing State. The Off-Broadway bow at Audible's Minetta Lane Theatre follows the work's world premiere at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. The seven-week limited engagement officially opened September 17 after beginning performances September 8.
The production revealed a one-week extension September 18, with performances now set to continue through October 28.
The production is directed by Tony winner Robert Falls and feature the original Chicago cast, including Mary Beth Fisher as Peg, Kirsten Fitzgerald as Sheriff Kris, Anne E. Thompson as Dani, and Bubba Weiler as Ryan. Understudies for the production will include Laura T. Fisher, Jessica Ervin, and Jack Lancaster.
Swing State is a contemporary portrait of America's heartland, exploring how individuals react when they feel like their way of life is in danger of disappearing. As a part of Audible's performance program, the production will be recorded and released on Audible at a later date.
