Sarah Palin

Daniel Gettleman: A musical based on the life of Sarah Palin

Willie Rene Guerrero: Sarah Palin Horrid Biography…lol

Angelique Capra Schmidts: 30 Rock the musical…or a musical inspired by the life and times, trials and tribulations of Sarah Palin.

Lisa Johnson: Well duh – Sarah Palin One Woman Show.

Fey's "Saturday Night Live" impersonations of vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin in the lead-up to the 2008 election received worldwide attention. A former SNL cast member, Fey has returned as a guest star to the long-running show to portray Palin, a performance that saw her win a Primetime Emmy Award. A musical inspired by Palin with Fey in the lead role would be sure to delight her fans.

Into the Woods

Jordan Hue: Baker's Wife

Anna Bahn: Everything. Or the Baker's Wife in Into the Woods. She almost did it for the movie! Emily was young, but the character has been played both ways. Tina would be AMAZING.

Gavin John Annette: I will always say that she'd make a perfect Baker's Wife in "Into the Woods".

James Brandon Martin: Baker's Wife in Into the Woods. For sure!!

The role of the Baker's Wife in Stephen Sondheim's classic musical Into the Woods is one coveted by stage actresses for its complexity and meaty musical numbers. The role was originally played on Broadway by Joanna Gleason, who won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Most recently, the Baker's Wife was played by Emily Blunt in the film adaptation, who provided one of the motion picture's standout performances.

Chicago

Anthony Venditti: Roxie Hart the sexy murderess gal

Anne Marie Scarlies: Roxie or Velma

The role of merry murderess Roxie Hart in the Tony-winning Kander and Ebb musical was originated by Ann Reinking and subsequently played by Melanie Griffith and Brooke Shields, among many others. It was recently announced that Grammy winner Brandy Norwood will take on the role on Broadway this spring. The 1920's prison-set musical follows Hart's battle with fellow jailed murderess Velma Kelly.

Mean Girls the Musical

Shannon O'Grady: Ms. Norbury in the upcoming stage adaptation of "Mean Girls". Duh.

Bea Stevens: Mean Girls the Musical (as the teacher role she played on film). Wishful thinking

As recently reported on Playbill.com, Fey and husband Jeff Richmond are currently working on a musical adaptation of the hit 2004 film "Mean Girls," about a ruthless high-school girl clique. Fey, who wrote the screenplay and played the character of Ms. Norbury in the movie, is adapting the screenplay for the musical's book; Tony Award nominee Nell Benjamin is collaborating with the husband and wife duo by penning the music. According to Benjamin, 60 percent of the show is complete. To read Playbill.com's interview with Benjamin, click here.

Heathers

Tasha Bates: Miss Fleming in Heathers

Carmel Henschel: Ms. Fleming in Heathers

Based on the cult teen comedy film “Heathers” starring Wynona Ryder, Heathers the Musical tells the story of brainy and beautiful teenage misfit Veronica Sawyer. When she is kicked out of the most powerful clique in school, Veronica and her unhinged boyfriend J.D. act out their own deadly revenge plan. Adapted into a hilarious and heartfelt musical by the award-winning creative team of Kevin Murphy, Laurence O’Keefe and Andy Fickman, Heathers the Musical was a fan favorite Off-Broadway. The role of teacher Ms. Fleming is highly comical and over-the-top, making it perfect for "Saturday Night Live" regular Fey.

Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown

Juan Manuel Sánchez: Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown

Based on Pedro Almodovar's 1988 film of the same name, the musical follows the plight of an actress whose lover has left her, setting off a domino effect of dizzying complications, farcical comedy and poisonous gazpacho. The highly dramatic, laugh-out-loud show demands a talented, predominantly female cast, and Fey would be a stellar addition. Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown premiered on Broadway in 2010 and saw both Patti LuPone and Laura Benanti nominated for Tony Awards for their performances. The musical was penned by David Yazbek with a book by Jeffrey Lane.

How I Learned to Drive

Luke Powell: Lil' Bit in How I learned to Drive

With Fey a spokesperson for women's rights, it would be wonderful to see her on stage in a role that explored feminism, such as Li'l Bit in Paula Vogel's How I Learned to Drive. The Pulitzer-winning work premiered Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre in 1997, with Mary-Louise Parker ("Weeds") in the lead role. The character demands a balance of intelligence, humor, innocence and sex appeal, a difficult combination that Parker pulled off perfectly and no doubt Fey could also achieve.

Wicked

Jose Luis Gzz: Elphie.

Bethany DeMarco: I second the Elphaba suggestion…her eye roll would be perfect for what is this feeling!

Meagan Jordan: Elphaba for sure!!

Several Playbill.com readers were keen to see Fey try her hand at one of the two mighty leading-lady roles in Wicked, which has been playing The Gershwin Theatre since 2003. Multi-award winner and Broadway favorite Wicked recounts the untold story of the witches of Oz: Elphaba, green-skinned, smart, fiery and misunderstood, and Glinda, a beautiful, ambitious and very popular good witch. The show features several powerhouse musical numbers for both women, making them highly sought-after roles.
