Regional News Pittsburgh CLO Will Debut Madame Clicquot Musical in 2025

The musical, written by Lisette Glodowski and Richard C. Walter, released a studio album last year and played a sold-out concert in 2021.

Pennsylvania's Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera will give a world premiere to new musical Madame Clicquot in summer 2025. Written by Lisette Glodowski and Richard C. Walter, the work released a studio album in 2023.

The work tells the story of Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin and her journey revolutionizing the world of Champagne during the French Revolution and Napoleonic wars.

The production will not be part of PCLO's regular summer season, instead playing as a stand-alone offering at the Byham Theatre thanks to a commercial enhancement from producer 42nd Parallel Productions. Laurie Glodowski is directing and choreographing, with music direction by Kenneth Gartman and orchestrations by Frank Galgano and Matt Castle.

“We are over the moon to be joining forces with Pittsburgh CLO for the world premiere of Madame Clicquot,” says director-choreographer Laurie Glodowski in a statement. “Their commitment to excellence in producing musical theatre, especially in nurturing new works, made them the perfect choice for this collaboration. We’re delighted to bring our vision to life alongside such a talented team and share it with Pittsburgh’s passionate theatregoers. Let’s raise a glass together!”
