See how Tony nominee Phillipa Soo gets ready to star as Guenevere in Lincoln Center Theater's revival of Lerner and Loewe's Camelot in a new set of photos from Michael Kushner Photography's The Dressing Room Project. Soo is starring in the Bartlett Sher-directed revival at the Vivian Beaumont Theater through July 23.
The Dressing Room Project is a photographic journal of actors preparing for their roles on Broadway. Created by actor-photographer Kushner, the project is meant for theatre lovers everywhere.
In his own words, “What happens onstage demonstrates brilliance. What happens before hand demonstrates skill and dedication. The Dressing Room Project unwraps a side of artists we rarely see. No VIP ticket can put you in touch with how an artist prepares. This collection brings you into the dressing room where the art begins, before the performance starts. So, what becomes a Legend most? Follow The Dressing Room Project (Instagram: @thedressingroomproject) and decide for yourself.”

The new take on the Golden Age musical features a new book by To Kill a Mockingbird playwright Aaron Sorkin—based on Lerner's original—which notably took away the story's magical elements and gave it a more modern edge. The classic King Arthur tale is based on the novel The Once and Future King by T.H. White, set to the classic score with lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe.
Along with Soo, the cast is led by Andrew Burnap as Arthur, Jordan Donica as Lancelot Du Lac, Dakin Matthews as Merlyn and Pellinore, Taylor Trensch as Mordred, Marilee Talkington as Morgan Le Fey, Camden McKinnon as Tom of Warwick, Anthony Michael Lopez as Sir Dinadan, Fergie Philippe as Sir Sagramore, and Danny Wolohan as Sir Lionel.
Sher leads a creative team that also includes choreographer Byron Easley, set designer Michael Yeargan, costume designer Jennifer Moeller, hair and wig designer Cookie Jordan, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu, and sound designers Marc Salzberg and Beth Lake, with projections by 59 Productions. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Adam Caldwell.

Filmed in 2023, the one-night-only event featured Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Peter Friedman, and more from the Ahrens and Flaherty musical's original cast.
Surrounded by period-accurate, 19th-century holiday decorations lit via candlelight, the 70-minute production is based on Dickens' own script of the classic.
