The New York City debut of EMPIRE: The Musical officially opened its 12-week limited engagement at Off-Broadway's New World Stages July 11 following previews that began July 1.
Directed by Tony winner Cady Huffman (The Producers), the musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Caroline Sherman and Robert Hull, telling the story of the creation and impact of the Empire State Building through the lens of three generations of dreamers and doers spanning New York City in the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, and the Bicentennial Year of 1976.
