Directed by Austin Pendleton, the production stars Stephen McKinley Henderson, who reprises his critically acclaimed performance as Walter "Pops" Washington. He was previously seen at Second Stage in August Wilson's Jitney.
The cast also includes Victor Almanzar (Repertorio Espanol, LAByrinth Theater), Elizabeth Canavan (The Little Flower of East Orange), Rosal Colón (The Motherf*cker with the Hat), Liza Colón-Zayas (Second Stage's Water by the Spoonful and Living Out), Ron Cephas Jones (Of Mice of Men and 2ST’s Wildflower) and Michael Rispoli (Between Riverside and Crazy at ATC).
According to Second Stage and Atlantic Theater Company, "City Hall is demanding more than his signature, the Landlord wants him out, the liquor store is closed — and the Church won’t leave him alone. For ex-cop and recent widower Walter 'Pops' Washington and his recently paroled son Junior, the struggle to hold on to one of the last great rent stabilized apartments on Riverside Drive collides with old wounds, sketchy new houseguests, and a final ultimatum in this dark comedy from the Tony nominated author of The Motherf*ucker with the Hat and Jesus Hopped the A Train. For Pops and Junior, it seems the Old Days are dead and gone — after a lifetime living Between Riverside and Crazy." Between Riverside and Crazy features scenic design by Walt Spangler, costume design by Alexis Forte, lighting design by Keith Parham and sound design and original music by Ryan Rumery.
The extended engagement continues through March 22.
Second Stage Theatre's Tony Kiser Theatre is located at 305 West 43rd Street. For more information and tickets, call (212) 246-4422 or visit 2ST.com.
