Airline Highway Opens on Broadway; Red Carpet Arrivals, Curtain Call, Parade and Party
"In the parking lot of The Hummingbird, a once-glamorous motel on New Orleans’s infamous Airline Highway, a group of friends gather," press notes state. "A rag-tag collection of strippers, hustlers and philosophers have come together to celebrate the iconic burlesque performer Miss Ruby. The party rages through the night as old friends resurface to pay their respects."
The Steppenwolf Theatre production is presented on Broadway by the Manhattan Theatre Club at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, with direction by Joe Mantello (Take Me Out, Assassins).
The creative team includes Scott Pask (scenic design), David Zinn (costume design), Japhy Weideman (lighting design), and Fitz Patton (original music and sound design).
The Samuel J. Friedman Theatre is located at 261 West 47th Street. Visit ManhattanTheatreClub.com for more information.
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
