Grand Hotel, with book by Luther Davis, music and lyrics by George Forrest and Robert Wright and additional music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, is being presented Sept. 24-28 at downtown's Frederick Loewe Theatre. The production is directed by Dallett Norris.
The musical is based on the 1932 film of the same name and winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture. The film itself was based on Vicki Baum's best-selling novel, which follows the eccentric characters of a luxurious Berlin hotel during a weekend in 1928. Their intersecting stories weave love, heartbreak, betrayal, fortune and ruin.
Grand Hotel features music direction by Caleb Hoyer, assistant direction and choreography by MK Lawson, scenic design by Brittany Vasta, lighting design by Jimmy Lawlor, costume design by Karen Kinsley and sound design by Benjamin Furiga. The production stage manager is Danielle Teague-Daniels, and the assistant choreographer is Maria Malanga.
