Elaine Stritch, known as the Lady Who Lunched, made her "Law and Order" debut in 1992, a year before she reprised her role as Joanne in a limited engagement performance of Company. She played Lanie Stieglitz, a bold and outspoken lawyer who specialized in women's rights cases. She can be seen in "Point of View" (Season 3, Ep. 9) and "Working Mom" (Season 7, Ep. 14). She won an Emmy award in 1993 for her performance in the episode.

Patti LuPone, who most recently appeared in Shows for Days, made her "Law and Order" debut in 1996 right around the time she was appearing as Maria Callas in Master Class. She played a defense attorney named Ruth Miller in "Homesick" (Season 6, Ep. 22) and "Navy Blues" (Season 8, Ep. 3). In 2015 she appeared on a "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" episode titled "Agent Provacteur" (Season 16, Ep.11). She played Lydia Lebasi, manager to an up-and-coming star who has been charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl.

John Cameron Mitchell, who is most well known for writing and starring in Hedwig and the Angry Inch made his "Law and Order" debut in 1995, two years after he appeared as Dickon in The Secret Garden. He played Eddie in "Pride" (Season 5, Ep. 23), an episode centered around the murder of an openly gay councilman. Laura Benanti, who will be returning to Broadway as Amalia in Roundabout Theatre Company's She Loves Me in February 2016, made her "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" debut in 2012. She played Maria Grazie, Detective Nick Amaro's ex-wife who is serving in the armed forces overseas. She can be seen in "Spiraling Down" (Season 13, Ep. 10), "Official Story" (Season 13, Ep. 12), "Hunting Ground" (Season 13, Ep. 15), "Valentine's Day" (Season 13, Ep. 18), "Street Revenge" (Season 13, Ep. 19), "Rhodium Nights" (Season 13, Ep. 23), "Lost Reputation" (Season 14, Ep. 1), "Military Justice" (Season 15, Ep. 8) and "Thought Criminal" (Season 15, Ep. 23).

Jefferson Mays, who is currently honing multiple personalities as the D'Ysquith Family in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder on Broadway, made his "Law and Order: Criminal Intent" debut in 2008 as Keifer Gates in "Legacy" (Season 7, Ep. 19). He appeared on "Law and Order" in 2009 as Attorney Olson in "Pledge" (Season 19, Ep. 10). He has also appeared on "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" as Dr. Rudnick in "Spousal Privilege" (Season 16, Ep. 8), "December Solstice" (Season 16, Ep. 16), "Granting Immunity" (Season 16, Ep. 19) and "Surrendering Noah" (Season 16, Ep. 23).

Marlee Matlin, who is currently making her Broadway debut as The Adult Women in the Deaf West revival of Spring Awakening made her "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" debut in 2004. She played Dr. Amy Solwey, an in vitro fertilization specialist who suffered from a rare genetic disorder that caused her to lose her hearing and eventually caused kidney failure. Dr. Solwey is a convicted proxy murderer. She can be seen in "Painless" (Season 5, Ep. 22) and "Parts" (Season 6, Ep. 22).

Sutton Foster, who most recently appeared as Queenie in the Encores! production of The Wild Party, made her "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" debut in 2010 after finishing a run as Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical. She played Rosemary, the assistant to the leader of a lesbian activist group, in "P.C." (Season 11, Ep. 13).

Bernadette Peters, known for performances as The Witch in Into the Woods and Rose in Gypsy, made her "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" debut in 2006. She appeared as Defense Attorney Stella Danquiss in "Choreographed" (Season 8, Ep. 9), an episode centered around the poisoning of a model.

Audra McDonald, who will appear as Lottie Gee in Shuffle Along, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed starting in April 2016, made her "Law and Order" debut in 2000 after finishing a run of Marie Christine on Broadway. She appeared as Audrey Jackson, a police psychologist, in "Contact" (Season 1, Ep. 19) and "Slaves" (Season 1, Ep. 22).

Aaron Tveit, who will play Danny Zuko in FOX's upcoming Grease: Live, made his "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" debut in 2010 after finishing a run as Gabe in Next to Normal. He appears as Jan Eyck in "Beef" (Season 11, Ep. 10) and as Stevie Harris, a former basketball player who claims that he was sexually assaulted by his coach, in "Personal Fouls" (Season 13, Ep. 2).

Anthony Rapp, who announced BroadwayCon, a convention for Broadway and theatre fans, earlier this year, made his "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" debut in 2004. He appeared as Matt Spevak, owner of a nursing home linked to the murders of three elderly women in "Bound" (Season 5, Ep. 23) and Nathan Forrester, a man who was sexually assaulted by his teacher, in "Lessons Learned" (Season 14, Ep. 8).

Renee Elise Goldsberry, who is currently playing Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton, made her "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" debut in 2013. She appears as Attorney Martha Marron in "Beautiful Frame" (Season 14, Ep. 11), "Psycho/Therapist" (Season 15, Ep. 10) and "Beast's Obsession" (Season 15, Ep. 20).

Betty Buckley, who is currently appearing as Big Edie in Grey Gardens at Bay Street Theater, made her "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" in 2006. She appears as Attorney Walsh in "Manipulated" (Season 7, Ep. 15), "Clock" (Season 8, Ep. 2) and "Lunacy" (Season 10, Ep. 4).

Chip Zien, who recently played the role of Murray Steinberg in It Shoulda Been You, made his "Law and Order" debut in 1990 before appearing as Otto Kringelein in Grand Hotel. He appears in "Happily Ever After" (Season 1, Ep. 5), as Mr. Green in "Night & Fog" (Season 3, Ep. 13) and as Attorney Steven Cromwell in "All My Children" (Season 11, Ep. 20) and "Missing" (Season 12, Ep. 14).

Billy Porter, who will appear as Aubrey Lyles in Shuffle Along, Or, The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed starting in April 2016, made his "Law and Order" debut in 2004. He appeared as Greg Ellison in "Cry Wolf" (Season 15, Ep. 8). He also appeared in "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" as Jackie Walker, a teacher and singing coach accused of sexually assaulting his former students, in "Dissonant Voices" (Season 15, Ep. 7).
