Noël Coward's 1931 play Private Lives will get a Broadway revival in 2026, part of the 2026-2027 Broadway season.

Casting, creative team, dates, and a theatre are all to be announced. The project is being produced by Jeffrey Richards, Playful Productions, Rebecca Gold, and M/B/P Productions.

The work, which premiered on Broadway in 1931, follows a divorced couple who get a surprise reunion when they find themselves on adjoining hotel balconies on their respective honeymoons. Coward and Gertrude Lawrence led the original production; there have subsequently been seven revivals, with such stars as Laurence Olivier, Tallulah Bankhead, Tammy Grimes, Brian Bedford, Maggie Smith, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, and Joan Collins.

The work's most recent Broadway staging was in 2011, with Kim Cattrall and Paul Gross starring. A 1931 film version starred Norma Shearer and Robert Montgomery.

“We are thrilled that this sparkling new production of this iconic comedy will be coming back to Broadway in 2026-27," says Noël Coward Foundation Chair Alan Brodie in a statement. "The Coward Estate will work with closely with the producers and creative team and open their extensive archive to them as well as providing support from its social and marketing team. All the royalties received by the Coward Estate on this production will go to the charitable Foundation set up by Coward’s partner Graham Payn and will be used to support educational and development projects across the performing arts.”
