Talene Monahon's Jane Anger or The Lamentable Comedie of JANE ANGER, that Cunning Woman, and also of Willy Shakefpeare and his Peasant Companion, Francis, Yes and Also of Anne Hathaway (also a Woman) Who Tried Very Hard begins performances February 23 at the New Ohio Theatre for a run scheduled through March 13.

Jess Chayes directs the comedy about The Bard—stuck in quarantine during the plague with a bad case of writer's block—and the cunning woman who climbs through the window and changes history. The work (billed as a feminist revenge comedy) is inspired by Jane Anger, author of the pamphlet "Her Protection for Women," published in London in 1589.

The cast includes Michael Urie (Chicken & Biscuits, Grand Horizons) as Shakespeare, Amelia Workman (American Son) as Jane Anger, Ryan Spahn as Francis, and playwright Monahon as Anne Hathaway.

JANE ANGER features a set by Joey Mendoza, costumes by Andrea Hood, lighting by Nic Vincent, and sound design and original music by Lindsay Jones. Rounding out the production team are the effects consultant Matt Frew, production stage manager Michal V. Mendelson, and assistant stage manager Brant Sennett, with general management by Out of the Box Theatrics Inc. Jennifer Campos Productions produces the new work.
