Paul Newman, who was born January 26, 1925, starred as as Chance Wayne in Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Bird of Youth on Broadway. The show debuted in 1959 at the Martin Beck Theatre also starring Geraldine Page as Princess Kosmonopolous. Both stars reprised their performances in the 1962 film, alongside co-star Madeleine Sherwood.
