Recorded live in June 2018, the album features the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus with soloists Britney Coleman (Tootsie, Beautiful), Marcus J. Paige (Berlin Opera Academy), Lisa Vroman (The Phantom of the Opera), and Lippa, composer of such shows as The Wild Party, The Addams Family, and Big Fish. The work is scheduled to be presented by ten additional choruses nationwide in the 2019–2020 season.
Inspired by August Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle, Unbreakable highlights more than 100 years of the LGBTQ experience in America, covering such subjects as Harvard's 1920 "Secret Court," transgender and gay activist Sylvia Rivera, The Lavender Scare, Novel Peace Prize winner Jane Addams, black gay social-justice advocate Bayard Rustin, and more.
