The Lincoln Center Theater production of the new musical Flying Over Sunset ends its Broadway run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater January 16. It began previews November 11, 2021 and officially opened December 13. At the time of closing, Flying Over Sunset will have played 63 performances—28 previews and 35 regular performances.
The musical stars Tony nominees Carmen Cusack as playwright and diplomat Clare Booth Luce, Tony Yazbeck as movie star Cary Grant, and Harry Hadden-Paton as author Aldous Huxley as they all come together to experiment with the hallucinogenic drug LSD.
Also featured in the cast are Kanisha Marie Feliciano, Nehal Joshi, Emily Pynenburg, Michele Ragusa, Robert Sella, Laura Shoop, and Atticus Ware.
Flying Over Sunset has lyrics by Tony nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens), music by Tony-, Grammy-, and Pulitzer-winning composer Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), and a book by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner James Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods), who also directs the Lincoln Center Theater production. Choreography is by Michelle Dorrance.

The creative team for the production includes sets by Beowulf Boritt, costumes by Toni-Leslie James, lighting by Bradley King, sound by Dan Moses Schreier, projections by 59 Productions, and casting by The Telsey Office, with orchestrations by Michael Starobin and music direction by Kimberly Grigsby.
The musical is produced in association with Jack Shear. Rick Steiger is the production stage manager.
A cast recording from Sony Masterworks Broadway will drop digitally January 28, 2022, followed by a CD release March 11.
