The Gin Game (Broadway at the John Golden Theatre). Tony Award winners James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson co-star in D.L. Coburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, The Gin Game. Leonard Foglia directs. "Weller Martin (James Earl Jones) and Fonsia Dorsey (Cicely Tyson) meet on the porch of their nursing home and strike up a friendship, with Weller teaching Fonsia how to play gin rummy," according to press notes. "As they play, they share stories about the lives they led in the outside world. But when Fonsia wins every hand, Weller becomes increasingly frustrated, until their gin games and conversations become a battleground, with each player exposing the other’s failures, disappointments and insecurities." The Flick (Off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theatre). Annie Baker's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama The Flick is a study of boredom, yearning and dysfunction in a crew of New England movie-house workers. The play won the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Sam Gold directs the four-person play that played an extended Off-Broadway world premiere at Playwrights Horizons in 2013. Returning for the production were cast members Alex Hanna, Louisa Krause, Matthew Maher and Aaron Clifton Moten. Here's how the play is billed: "In a run-down movie theater in central Massachusetts, three underpaid employees mop the floors and attend to one of the last 35 millimeter film projectors in the state. Their tiny battles and not-so-tiny heartbreaks play out in the empty aisles, becoming more gripping than the lackluster, second-run movies on screen. These Paper Bullets! (Off-Broadway at the Linda Gross Theatre). The Atlantic Theater Company staging of These Paper Bullets! is a modish twist on Much Ado About Nothing written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Emmy Award-nominated writer Rolin Jones with songs by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. Helmed by Jackson Gay, the cast includes James Barry, Justin Kirk, Nicole Parker, Greg Stuhr, Lucas Papaelias, Keira Naughton, Christopher Geary, Brad Heberlee, Tony Manna, Adam O'Byrne and Ariana Venturi. New additions include Stephen DeRosa, Andrew Musselman, Liz Wisan and Bryan Fenkart. "Meet the Quartos: Ben, Claude, Balth, and Pedro," state press notes.
