The Insurgents is inspired by the lives of some of the most dynamic and controversial figures in American history: Harriet Tubman, Nat Turner, John Brown and Timothy McVeigh. "The play examines the lies and injustice that history has handed down and the actions people take when they finally decide that enough is enough," according to the Labyrinth.
The premiere follows Thurber’s Obie Award-winning The Hill Town Plays, a five-play cycle that played Off-Broadway in 2013. She is the author of ten plays and her work has been produced Off-Broadway by Rattlestick Playwright’s Theater, The Atlantic Theater Company and Cherry Lane Theater, among others. She is also the recipient of the Manhattan Theatre Club Playwriting Fellowship.
Tickets, priced $25, are now on sale. They can be purchased by visiting labtheater.org or by calling (212) 513-1080. The Bank Street Theater is located at 155 Bank Street in Manhattan.
