The new musical Little Piece of You - An Atypical Musical will make its European premiere with two staged concerts, held October 21 and November 1 at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The work is penned by rock musician Kjersti Long, who will also star as Sidney Hill. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
17-year-old Long began writing music for the show at age 14. As a solo musician, she signed a distribution deal with Warner Brothers in 2022, and released her first two songs. Long has headlined U.S. venues including The Bitter End in New York City, The House of Blues in San Diego and the Apollo Theatre in Harlem.
“It is a dream come true to see the music that I began working on when I was 14 come to life in the iconic setting of London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, one of the biggest theatres in the U.K.," Long said in a statement. "It is mind-boggling that I get to take to the stage alongside the most extraordinary cast who we will announce in the coming weeks. I can’t wait for London audiences to be a part of history in these first look concerts!”
Little Piece of You features a book by Melissa Leilani Larson, with music and lyrics by Kjersti Long and Jeremy Long, and additional lyrics by Chantry Johnson, Michelle Zarlenga, Wendy Parr, Paul Moak, and Hunter Wolfe. The musical follows Shannon and Britt, a mother and daughter, as they confront their family’s hidden struggles and embark on a transformative journey.
The creative team also includes co-directors Jennifer Tang and Joshua Long, associate director Shelby Noelle Gist, musical supervisor Katy Richardson, musical director Lauren Hopkinson, set designer Justin Williams, lighting designer Tim Oliver, sound designer Tom Marshall, costume designer Elin Steele, orchestrator and arranger Zach Hansen, co-choreographers Jess Williams and Jonnie Riordan, set design U.S. consultant Brad Shelton, dramaturg Janine Sobeck Knighton, casting director Pearson Casting, company stage manager Rachael Downey, deputy stage manager Sorcha Doherty, assistant stage manager Sammie Richards, and production manager Pete Kramer. General management is by Carter Dixon McGill Productions.
The producing team includes lead producer Jeremy Long, executive producer Van Dean, 42nd.Club, and Talia Hankin.
