Ryan Scott Oliver's new folk horror musical, Tomorrow, The Island Dies, will have a reading presentation November 7 for an invited audience. Zi Alikhan will direct, and Joshua Zecher-Ross will serve as music director.
The cast will feature Alisa Melendez as Widow Clack, Philippe Arroyo as Benji, Liam Pearce as Jacob, Julia Murney as Ms. Kelly, Kim Onah as Nadine, Ethan Carlson as Ephraim, and Caitlin Doak as Kathryn. Ryan Bronston, Bryanna Cuthill, Nicole DeLuca, Miranda Luze, Jackson Mizell, and Jordan White will round out the cast.
Tomorrow, the Island Dies tells the story of 18-year-old Widow Clack, who is pregnant and running a lighthouse with her brother on a storm-ravaged island that will be uninhabited in two days. When a young man is found dead on the beach, the remaining collection of young adults begin to make dangerous accusations. A cast recording was released in October.
The reading is produced by American Music Theatre Project, Very Intense Productions, and AT New Works. Tomorrow, the Island Dies is a commission from Samford University. The musical won the SDSU New Musical Theatre Initiative's two-year residency, and is an official selection of the American Music Theatre Project’s 2024-2025 season.
