Following sold-out runs, the National Theatre productions of Dear England and VANYA will be screened in cinemas in the U.K. and Ireland this winter alongside the re-release of the Olivier- and Tony-winning production of David Hare's Skylight.

Beginning January 25, 2024, filmgoers will be able to see James Graham’s Dear England, which was filmed live during the National run that preceded its current engagement at London's Prince Edward Theatre. Starring Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale) as England's men's football team manager Gareth Southgate, the production is directed by Rupert Goold.

Presented by Wessex Grove, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Kater Gordon, VANYA, a solo adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, will be released to cinemas February 22. Andrew Scott (Fleabag) brings to life multiple characters in the production, which was adapted by Simon Stephens (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time) and directed by Sam Yates.

Prior to the release of those two titles, the National's 2014 production of Hare’s Skylight, starring Carey Mulligan and Bill Nighy, will return to U.K. cinemas November 16. The London production transferred to Broadway for a Tony-winning run in 2015, with both Mulligan and Nighy reprising their performances.

Four other productions from recent years will also be available in cinemas between October 19 and Christmas: the comedy Jack Absolute Flies Again, the fantastical adventure The Book of Dust – La Belle Sauvage, Simon Stone’s reworking of Yerma featuring Billie Piper (I Hate Suzie), and Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy, Romeo & Juliet.
