Life Jacket Theatre will present an industry reading of the company's new musical The Gorgeous Nothings February 12 at New York Live Arts. The historical musical featuring a book by Travis Lee Russ is set to forgotten works from The Great American Songbook.
With in-depth archival research, The Gorgeous Nothings centers on a forgotten chapter in LGBTQIA+ American history, dramatizing the story of six queer inmates at an NYC penitentiary in the 1930s.
The cast will include Rodney Hicks (Come From Away), John Cariani (The Band’s Visit), Arnie Burton (Peter and the Starcatcher), Jose Llana (Here Lies Love), Ken Barnett (Fun Home), and Allan K. Washington (Once On This Island).
