John Leguizamo revealed to Seth Meyers that he performed Latin History for Morons on Rikers Island recently.
The show was adapted a bit given that he couldn’t refer to sex or swear in front of the inmates, the star told the Late Night with Seth Meyers host, adding that the addition of prison guards was a bit distracting. Still, the message of the show didn’t change.
Latin History for Morons educates audiences about the lack of representation the Latino community has been given in history books and in recognition. In 2018, the show received a special Tony Award for contributions to the theatre.
Latin History for Morons is currently touring America. It will play an extended run in Los Angeles beginning September 5, followed by a week–long engagement in Chicago October 29 through November 3.
