Jessica Rush (Dear Evan Hansen) will star in an industry reading of Liesl Wilke and Andy Marsh's new musical Stalled November 9. Adapted from Wilke's short story Stalled Symphony, the work explores motherhood, girlhood, love, and loss. Jamibeth Margolis will direct the reading.
Using music and spoken word, Stalled centers on four women, all leading different lives stuck in a executive building's bathroom. As the situation unfolds, they connect as women, seeing themselves in one another as they share their respective truths about motherhood, addiction, love, loss, and identity. Stalled was previously workshopped at the Pacific Resident Theatre in Venice, CA, and was selected as a finalist in the Screencraft Stageplay Competition.
Joining Rush in the reading's cast will be Juliet Benn (Tina, Once on This Island), Lauren Blackman (The Music Man, Anastasia), Gabi Carrubba (Dear Evan Hansen), Jully Lee (KPOP), Mia Ai Mooka, Naomi Serrano, Julia Wilke, and Nayo Wallace (The Lion King).
With a book and lyrics by Liesl Wilke and music and lyrics by Andy Marsh with additional music and lyrics by Kyle Puccia, Stalled will feature music supervision by Puccia, musical direction by Laura Bergquist, stage directions by Glori Dei Fillippone, stage management by Jared Six, and general management by Lisa Dozier Shacket/ LDK Productions. Haley Swindal of Pinnacle Productions serves as executive producer.
