Casting is set for the Bucks County Playhouse production of the new musical Hard Road to Heaven, which will be presented at the Pennsylvania venue February 28–March 23. Opening night is set for March 8.
Featuring a book by Willy Holtzman and music and lyrics by David Spangler, Jerry Taylor, and Marty Dodson, the musical follows Jenny Dixon, the reigning queen of country as she navigates the ups and downs of a superstar career and the gospel-singing family she left behind. Christian Parker serves as dramaturg.

Directed by Jackson Gay with choreography by Brandon Kelly, the cast of the world premiere will feature Jackie Burns as Jenny Dixon, Leah Hocking as Linnell Dixon, Elizabeth Teeter as Anna Grace Dixon, J. Robert Spencer as Hank Dixon, Bryan Fenkart as Jimmy Lee Stewart, Jerry Dixon as Charlie Morgan, Nathaniel Hackmann as Kellin Wayne, and Marcus Gladney, Jr. as Marcus Dorsey.
Rounding out the company will be Imani Brissett, Brad Greer, Alec Ludacka, Christopher McCrewell, Claire Newumann, Shannon Mullen, and Cecilia Trippiedi. Casting is by Daryl Eisenberg.
The upcoming production will also have set design by Riw Rakkulchon, costume design by Vanessa Leuck, lighting design by Kirk Bookman, sound design by Jeff Sherwood, hair and wig design by J. Jared Janas, and music supervision by Jacob Yates.
