Out of the Box Theatrics has revealed the cast and creative team for its world premiere production of Inspired by True Events, a new play by Ryan Spahn (Nora Highland, Conversations with the Other Side). The production will run July 10-28 at 154 Christopher Street, with an official opening set for July 17.
The cast will feature Jack Difalco (The Ferryman, Torch Song) as Colin, Tony nominee Lou Liberatore (Burn This, As Is) as Robert, Mallory Portnoy (Maestro) as Eileen, and Dana Scurlock (Abduction, I Carry Your Heart) as Mary.
Developed by Michael Urie (Spamalot) and directed by Knud Adams (Primary Trust, English), the work follows the Uptown Players, a group of actors getting ready to play to a full house at a Rochester community theatre. When their star actor arrives in a dangerously unhinged state, they must improvise on and off stage in ways they could not have imagined. The production will be staged in the theatre’s green room for an intimate audience of 40 people per performance.
The creative team includes scenic designer Lindsay Fuori, costume designer Siena Zoë Allen, lighting designer Paige Seber, sound designer Peter Mills Weiss, props designer Sean Frank, stage manager Jakob W. Plummer, assistant stage manager Giselle Raphaela, and technical director Sajari Hume. Production management is by Out of the Box Theatrics.
Inspired By True Events received developmental workshops with New York Stage & Film, the Vineyard Theatre, and EST.
