Crew, costume, scenic, hair, and makeup workers at Connecticut's Goodspeed Musicals have voted overwhelmingly to unionize with IATSE. The workers will organize with IATSE's Local 84 and 798 and United Scenic Artists 829.

The group has been working towards the vote for more than a year. Next steps will see the groups negotiating new contracts, though a date for that has not yet been announced.

"This moment is not just a victory for the workers at Goodspeed, but an inspiration for workers at regional theatres across the country," says IATSE International President Matthew D. Loeb. "We are proud to welcome Goodspeed workers into our growing ranks and stand ready to support them in future negotiations."

Located in East Haddam, Connecticut, Goodspeed Musicals is one of the country's preeminent regional theatres. The venue is perhaps best known for developing such works as AnnieMan of La Mancha, and Shenandoah before bowing on Broadway.
