New 42's annual gala was held June 5, and Playbill has the photos to prove it!
Presented at the Plaza Hotel, this year's gala honored Sweeney Todd star Josh Groban and arts legend Julie Andrews, as well as Andrews' daughter and co-writer Emma Walton Hamilton, and Sesame Workshop CEO Steve Youngwood.
This years theme, “We Are Family,” was selected to celebrate artistic connections across generations of families.

Check Out Photos from the New 42's We Are Family Gala
The New Victory Arts Award was presented to Groban by his Sweeney Todd costar Ruthie Ann Miles in honor of his commitment to arts education. Andrews and Walton Hamilton were presented with their New Victory Arts Award by Walton Hamilton's daughter (and Andrews' granddaughter) Hope Hamilton in honor of their literary and theatrical work. Walton Hamilton accepted the award on behalf of both herself and her mother.
The Marian Heiskell Award was presented to Sesame Workshop CEO Steve Youngwood by Eric Jacobson for their 50 year commitment to joyful childhood learning, and for Youngwoods leadership. First conceived in 1966, Sesame Workshops children's television program Sesame Street is considered one of the most successful children's education programs of all time.
Additional participants in the evening includes Laura Benanti, Peter and Kathryn Gallagher, Arian Moayed, Michael Chernus, Bill Irwin, John Lithgow, and New Victory LabWorks Artist Sindy Castro. Isaac Mizrahi hosted the “Fund-A-Need” fundraising portion of the evening in support of New 42 and New Victory's artistic, arts education, and community engagement programs.
The Fred Ebb Award recognizes excellence in musical theatre songwriting, by a songwriter or songwriting team that has not yet achieved significant commercial success.
