Off-Broadway's Red Bull Theater will stage a one-night-only presentation of Ben Power's adaptation of Euripides' Medea May 12, with Daniel Fish at the helm. The presentation will be held at 7:30 PM at The Sheen Center Shiner Theatre.
The cast will feature Elizabeth Marvel, Bill Camp, Joan Macintosh, Michael Rudko, Greig Sargeant, Tina Benko, and Dahlak Brathwaite.
"The opportunity to hear one of America’s finest classical actors take on the title role of Medea is an event," Red Bull Theater founder and artistic director Jesse Berger said in a statement. "That Elizabeth Marvel is doing so under the always-provocative and insightful direction of Daniel Fish alongside an incredible company of actors led by Bill Camp makes it an event not to be missed. Join us to hear Euripides’ powerful tragedy in a superb new version by Ben Power. Come if you can. And, please, don’t bring the kids!”
The presentation is the conclusion of Red Bull Theater's 20th Anniversary festival. The 2023-2024 season also included the English translation of Guillén de Castro's Don Quixote, the world premiere of Medea: Re-Versed by Luis Quintero, a benefit performance of Maltby and Shire's new musical reimagining of The Country Wife, their annual Short New Play Festival, and their Revelation Readings series.
