The acclaimed solo show plays St. Marks.

Edinburgh Fringe favorite solo show Before The Drugs Kick In begins its New York engagement December 8.

Featuring Maria DeCotis, the show is playing weekends at UNDER St. Marks through December 22. Written, directed, and produced by Mike Lemme, the creative team will also includes movement director Mandy Gordon.

DeCotis plays a woman named Lynn T. Walsh, speaking from an insane asylum, about how she felt abandoned by her family after attempting to take her own life, and how society abandons women after they're no longer deemed useful. Styled like a comedy show, Before The Drugs Kick In is dedicated to young mothers whose mental health is often disregarded by society.

The Fringe run received critical acclaim as well as nominations for the BBC Writersroom Popcorn Award for New Writing and the Mental Health Foundation Fringe Award.
