The upcoming U.K. tour of the Olivier- and Tony-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen is collaborating with TikTok to find the next generation of talent for the upcoming production.
As previously reported, Nottingham Playhouse Artistic Director Adam Penford will direct the new staging, which will play the Nottingham venue September 9–28 prior to embarking on a U.K. tour.
This opportunity is open for every part in the show, including the title role. Applications from performers of all gender identities, with or without formal training, are welcome. Those interested should upload a video on TikTok singing any number from the Tony-winning score with the hashtag #YouWillBeFound, before submitting the entry formally via EvanOnTour.com/TikTok.
Video applications will be accepted through February 11. Entrants must be 18 or older and based in the U.K. or Ireland. The casting team will subsequently review videos and invite those chosen for a formal audition process at a central London location.
Director Penford said in a statement, “Dear Evan Hansen is about celebrating what you bring to the world as a unique individual. It's very exciting to be collaborating with TikTok to provide a platform for those who love the musical as much as I do to sing these beautiful songs. We can't wait to see who is out there."
Head of Entertainment TikTok UK and IE Ed Lindeman added, “Dear Evan Hansen is already a huge hit with the TikTok community, with thousands of people sharing creations using the much-loved soundtrack. We are delighted that the producers have recognized this and are now turning to TikTok to uncover up-and-coming talent for the touring show. At TikTok, we’re committed to supporting theatre and the creative industries, TikTok is a platform where creativity is discovered, and emerging talent can really thrive; we can't wait to see who will be found!"
