Dancers Over 40 hosts a special salute to late Broadway legend Angela Lansbury May 15 at the Actors' Temple Theatre. The evening, comprising performances and a panel discussion, features several alumni from Lansbury-led shows, with Kurt Peterson (Dear World) and Ken Kantor (Mame) hosting.
The six-time Tony honoree, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 96, counted Mame, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Dear World, and Blithe Spirit among her many Broadway credits, winning Tony Awards for each of those performances (Lansbury's sixth Tony was a Lifetime Achievement honor bestowed in 2022).
Set to perform are Jesse Luttrell, Sarah Rice (Sweeney Todd), Peterson, and Karen Murphy (A Little Night Music). Panel discussions will include Sheridan Beecher, Anthony Marciona (Gypsy), Richard Sabellico (Gypsy), Rice, Murphy, Pamela Hall (Dear World), and Jane Coleman (Dear World), with columnist Rex Reed, Sondra Lee (Hotel Paradiso), publicist Josh Ellis (1977 The King and I revival), personal assistant Clark Bason, and Charles Kirsch also on hand for remarks. Carolyn Kirsch and Mary Zahn (Dear World, Mame), Larry Fuller (Sweeney Todd), and Diana Baffa Brill (Mame) will be featured via video clips and notes.
