Butter up! Casting is complete for the forthcoming North American tour of the Tony-nominated musical Shucked, which will begin performances October 20 at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island before playing over 30 cities in its first season.
The cast will be led by Miki Abraham as Lulu (Abraham understudied the role in Shucked on Broadway), Tyler Joseph Ellis (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Storyteller 2, Maya Lagerstam (The Gospel According to Heather) as Storyteller 1, Mike Nappi (Darling Grenadine) as Peanut, Jake Odmark (Kinky Boots) as Beau, Quinn VanAntwerp (Shucked on Broadway) as Gordy, and Danielle Wade (Mean Girls national tour) as Maizy.
The company will also include Zakiya Baptiste, Mackenzie Bell, Carly Caviglia, Cecily Dionne Davis, Ryan Fitzgerald, Sean Casey Flanagan, Jackson Goad, Erick Pinnick, Nick Raynor, Celeste Rose, Kyle Sherman, and Chani Wereley.
Shucked features a book by Tony winner Robert Horn and a score by Tony nominees and Nashville writers Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. Three-time Tony winner Jack O’Brien directs.

The Broadway musical takes place in an isolated Midwestern town whose chief crop is corn. But when the corn starts mysteriously dying, its up to Maizy to journey into the wider world to find a corn doctor.
The Broadway production received nine Tony nominations at the 2023 awards, with Alex Newell winning the award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for their performance as Lulu; Newell made history as the first non-binary actor to win an acting Tony. The musical gave its final performance on Broadway January 14, 2024, at the Nederlander, having played 28 previews and 327 regular performances.
The forthcoming tour will also feature scenic design by Scott Pask, costume design by Tilly Grimes, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by John Shivers, wig design by Mia Neal, and casting by Stephen Kopel of C12 Casting. Nick Williams is the tour music director, Alan D. Knight is the production stage manager, and Dhyana Colony is the company manager.
