Regional News Buggy Baby Sets Astoria Performing Arts Center Premiere

Josh Azouz's horror comedy will begin at the Queens venue June 2.

The U.S. premiere of Buggy Baby by Josh Azouz will run at the Astoria Performing Arts Center June 2-June 26. The horror comedy follows Jaden and Nur and their new lives in London with Baby Aya after having escaped another country. Jaden begins to have strange visions and questioning Aya's identity. 

Directed by Rory McGregor and following its 2018 world premiere at London’s The Yard, the forthcoming production stars Erin Neufer as Baby Aya, Rana Roy as Nur, Hadi Tabbal as Jaden, and Jeffrey Brabant. 

Playwright Azouz shares, "I am overjoyed Buggy Baby is receiving a US debut. The play speaks to how people invent their futures in order to escape their pasts. Its dreams and nightmares feel ripe for the people of New York."

The creative team for includes set design by Brendan Gonzales Boston, costume design by Avery Reed, stage manager Pau Tobar, and lighting design by Stacey DeRosier. Audrey Rush is the line producer.
