The latest immersive theatrical event to hit New York City will be CocoaDios, a Mayan celebration of chocolate and deities at Brooklyn's House of Yes. The new show, debuting May 5, will weave rituals, song, dance and performance and promises to adorn the audience in chocolate.

Producer Chris Neuner bills CocoaDios as an “erotic, high-energy show“ that tells the ancient Mesoamerican legend of how chocolate came to earth. The theatrical event features an original score that blends contemporary pop, dance, rock, electronic and regional Mexican music with ceremonial Mayan drumming. Audiences will be encouraged to participate in the rituals as well as join the singers, dancers and aerialists on the dance floor.

The show is performed in both English and Spanish. The 16 member company will feature Ana Isabelle (winner of Viva el Sueno, the Univision music reality show in Puerto Rico), Joey Calveri (Saturday Night Fever, Rock of Ages, Trip of Love) and Khalid Rivera.

CocoaDios is directed and choreographed by Javier Dzul, artistic director of Dzul Dance; the creative team includes costume design by Darrell Thorne, Nahuatl scoring by Mesoamerican music composer Alfredo Villela and lighting design by Daniel Alaimo (Queen of the Night.)

CocoaDios is Produced by Xocolatl Productions and presented by Xocolatl Productions and the House of Yes, located at 2 Wyckoff Avenue.

Performances are Thursdays, Friday and Saturdays at 8 PM. Tickets are priced at $45 -$65 and can be ordered through Eventbrite.com. Visit cocoadios.com for more information.
