Film & TV News Broadway’s Annie, Lilla Crawford, Lands Lead Role in New Nickelodeon Series The new series, Sunny Day, premieres August 21.

Lilla Crawford, who played the title role in the 2012 Broadway revival of Annie and Little Red Riding Hood in the 2014 film adaptation of Into the Woods, jumps to the small screen August 21 with the premiere of the animated Nickelodeon series Sunny Day, in which she lends her voice to the lead character.

Aimed at preschoolers, the show bows at 10 AM ET/PT on Nickelodeon, and will also be seen on Treehouse TV starting at a date to be announced this fall. The show is based on Abie Longstaff’s children’s book series The Fairytale Hairdresser, illustrated by Lauren Beard.

Among other Broadway names lending their voices to the project are Kevin Duda, who played Neil Sedaka in Beautiful, and Melissa van der Schyff, who was featured in Bonnie and Clyde and the revival of Big River.

Lilla Crawford was a special guest performer on one of Playbill’s Broadway on the High Seas cruises. Cabins are available for Broadway on the Rhine River cruise August 13-20, 2017, featuring Seth Rudetsky, Andréa Burns, Faith Prince, Terrence Mann, Charlotte d’Amboise, and Santino Fontana.
