Amas Musical Theatre has announced additional cast members for the one-night-only presentation of The Post-Roe Monologues. A benefit performance of the play with music by Mimi Zieman is set for November 6 at 7 PM Monday at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center.
Joining the previously announced Amir Arison (The Kite Runner), Lilla Crawford (Annie), Badia Farha (The Gospel According to Heather), Judy Gold (The Vagina Monologues), and Mary Beth Peil (Anastasia) are Mary Bacon (DIG), Jeannette Bayardelle (Girl from the North Country) Emily Bergl (Good Night, Oscar), Ari Brand (Prayer for the French Republic), Alex Joseph Grayson (Parade), Roberta Maxwell (Women of a Certain Age), Danielle Troiano, Allyson Tucker (Ragtime), and Natalie Woolams-Torres (The Fears). Casting is by Stephanie Klapper Casting.
The Post-Roe Monologues explores the real-world consequences of the overturning of Roe v. Wade based on interviews and the experience of the author as an OB/GYN. Maria Torres directs the benefit performance, with music direction by Saul Nache.
Proceeds from the evening will benefit The National Abortion Hotline and Choice Matters. Following the performance will be a talkback with the playwright, cast, and guest speakers. Speakers include Andrea Young, Executive Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Georgia; and Catherine Ledere-Plaskett, President and Chair of WCLA – Choice Matters. The talkback will be moderated by Ruth Messenger.
