Jesse Tyler Ferguson (currently starring in Broadway's Take Me Out), Justin Mikita, Sam Bisbee, Christopher G. Cowen, and Rice produced the work which had its world premiere at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival June 13. A December 5 Fathom Events screening included an introduction from Rice and behind-the-scenes footage hosted by Ferguson.

Ferguson commented on the film in 2021. "This film is for that kid, who like me have no other option but theatre and who have, for the last two years, been forced to reevaluate that dream and wonder 'what now?'" he shared. "Broadway is the soul of New York City, and I am so ready to celebrate its reopening."

Broadway Rising is executive-produced by Hallee Adelman, Ivy Herman, Jackie Kelman Bisbee, Lance Acord, Cody Ryder, Wendy Neu, Justin Lacob, Bryn Mooser, Andy Hsieh, and Franklin Carson, with Eric Nelsen and Sainty Nelsen as co-executive producers, and Danielle Massie as a co-producer.
