For the fifth consecutive week, Good Night, Oscar, featuring a Tony-winning turn by Sean Hayes, enjoyed the highest gross of its run, taking in $993,478 at the Belasco Theatre, an especially impressive feat for a non-musical that is only playing seven performances a week. The August 13 matinee, in fact, was the highest grossing performance of the run to date, earning $150,480. The play, which spotlights subversive wit Oscar Levant, will end its limited run August 27.

It was also another good week for the new musical Here Lies Love, which continues its upward progression towards joining the $1 Million Club. The David Byrne-Fatboy Slim musical, the first Broadway production to feature an all-Filipino cast, grossed $950,834 at the Broadway Theatre for the week ending August 13.

But it's the long-running Disney hit The Lion King that was again the top earner of the week, again bringing in over $2 million at the box office, $2,468,402 to be exact. The other highest-grossing productions were Hamilton ($1,909,792), Funny Girl ($1,884,645), Wicked ($1,808,293), and Sweeney Todd ($1,699,468).

Overall, the 25 Broadway productions took in $27,665,508, down 7.99% from the previous week; it should be noted that one less show played last week, with the Tony-winning revival of Parade having ended its limited engagement. Attendance dipped 5% with 218,877 theatregoers paying an average ticket price of $126.35. Grosses and attendance are both likely to increase dramatically as several new shows open this fall.

Eighteen of the 25 running shows played to 90% capacity or more; in fact, two productions—Hadestown and Hamilton—played to over 100% capacity.
